A Word From Our Founder
I am deeply honored to welcome you to Walk For A Purpose: A World Without Breast Cancer.
Breast cancer has been part of my family’s story for more than two decades. In 2005, my sister Yvonne was diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly, the disease spread, and we lost Yvonne in 2009 at just 36 years old. In 2019, my mom received her own breast cancer diagnosis. The side effects of chemotherapy robbed her of mobility and significantly changed the rhythm of our daily lives.
In May 2025, I received a breast cancer diagnosis of my own. I suddenly found myself on a very personal journey of treatment and recovery.
One thing is very clear to me: breast cancer changes lives.
While my family’s story is a major driver behind Walk For A Purpose, I am equally inspired by the stories of courage, resilience, and hope I hear from so many people in our community who have walked this journey.
That is what Walk For A Purpose is really about. Yes, we raise funds for breast cancer research and support. But we also come together—family and friends, neighbors and strangers—to honor the women we love: our moms, sisters, aunts, grandmothers, nieces, granddaughters, and friends. We walk for those who are fighting, those who have finished treatment, those whose lives have been forever changed, and those we carry in our hearts.
Breast cancer can feel enormous and unconquerable. But there is hope. Research continues to uncover new knowledge, develop better treatments, improve early detection, and help people live longer and healthier lives. Every step forward matters.
And so does every step we take together.
